PRINCIPAL’S REPORT

Professional Development

Dave Passi attended a Strategic Planning meeting on March 8th.  The purpose of this meeting was to further develop the action plan of the Board to implement the Strategic Plan.

 

All our Primary teachers attended an in-school workshop regarding Assessment for Learning.  The workshop was delivered by Pauline Meagher, our Primary Lead Literacy teacher.

 

Brenda Cordeiro and Daniela Stuewer will be attending a Primary Geometry workshop on April 6th, 7th and 8th.  They, in turn, will deliver a workshop to all Primary teachers later this year.

 

Dave Passi attended a Ministry of Education meeting outlining the changes to the new Math curriculum, which is to be implemented as of September 2006.

 

Report Cards

Report cards go home on April 6th and parent-teacher interviews will take place on Monday, April 11th.

 

Intramurals

Intramurals are on hold at the present pending information regarding Stages 2 and 3 of the teacher’s work to rule campaign.

 

After School Numeracy Program

Mrs. Turnbull, Mrs. Schleier, Mrs. McLeod and Mrs. Vardy are delivering the After School Numeracy Program to 29 Grade 7 and 8 students.  We are the only school in the Board which has offered both the Literacy and Numeracy Programs.

 

School Enrolment

March 31st is the reporting date for school enrolment to the Ministry of Education.  As of March 31st, 2005, we had 167.5 Full-Time Equivalent Students enrolled at M.P.S.
