4.0 Student Report – Nicole reported that the Grade 8 students would be organizing Bake Sales on Tuesdays & Thursdays for the month of January.  A schedule has been set up for each class to bring in donations on set days.  The funds are being raised for the Tsunami Relief Fund.  The Federal Government would double any money donated to the Tsunami Relief Fund, by January the 11th.

Nicole asked if the $150.00 received from the Pop Bottle Fundraiser could be donated to the Tsunami Relief Fund and all were in favor.

Nicole also mentioned the possibility of a Volleyball Tournament taking place in Marathon during the month of February.

5.0 Business Arising

5.1) Tuck Shop – Nancy reported that she is losing volunteers and the grocery pick- up has become vacant again.  She has someone to fill in temporarily.  There were discussions about the Grade 8 students running the Tuck Shop on days that we are missing volunteers.  Dave feels this can be arranged.  Either Dave or a staff member will have to prepare the hot dogs, as the students are not dismissed early enough to do the prep work.

Nancy is required to pay the milk each Thursday.  After discussion it was decided that Nancy be given signing authority on the Parent Council’s bank account.  Tammy has provided Nancy with blank cheques in advance and she will need to forward on details to Tammy once they have been written.  Mary-Ann will be asked to give letter to CIBC requesting that Nancy be signed on to our bank account.

Nancy also mentioned that a sticker is being placed under 10 milk containers each week. There will be a prize for each winner picking one of these.

5.2) School Dances – Approximately $700 was made at the last dance for the Grade 8 Toronto Trip.  A special thanks to Dave, Chris and Belinda for chaperoning this dance.  A thank you letter was sent to the Fleurent’s.  They provided the DJ service at no cost.  Nicole is going to check with the Grade 8’s to see if they would like to run the next dance as a fundraiser.  If they are not interested, Council agreed host one.
