Meeting Minutes

Monday, April 4, 2005

 

PRESENT:  Mary-Ann Hoban – Chairperson, Marcia Newton – Secretary/Parent Rep., Dave Passi – Principal, Christine Turnbull – Teacher Rep., Nancy Pageau – Tuck Shop Rep., and Kelly Sagle – Parent Rep.

ABSENT: Tammy Turner – Treasurer/Parent Rep., Nicole Cliteur – Student Rep.

 

Meeting commenced at 6:30 p.m.

 

1.0 Welcome  

 

2.0 Adoption of Agenda      

 

3.0 Adoption of Minutes – March 9, 2005

 

4.0 Student Report – Not available as Nicole is in Toronto working as a Legislative Page for the month.

 

5.0 Business Arising

5.1) Tuck Shop – Nancy reported that all is going well in the Tuck Shop.  Our new item on the menu, Pogos, is selling well.  Nancy also reported that she will have to pay cash for the milk order over the next two weeks.

5.2) Grade 8 Auction Donation – Thank you Tammy for purchasing a 3-piece luggage set, on behalf of the Parent Council.

5.3) Early School Start Time Parent Concern – The parent meet with Dave following our last Parent Council Meeting.  Contact information for the School Board was provided to the parent so they could further pursue this issue.  Dave has not received any feedback regarding this matter.

5.4) “Turn Off the Screens Week” – Dave is still looking for suggestions.

5.5) Intramurals – Intramurals are on hold at the present pending information regarding Stages 2 and 3 of the teacher’s work to rule campaign.

 

6.0  Treasurer’s Report – Tammy prepared report - March 2, 2005 to April 4, 2005.  Dave presented, the report is as follows:

Revenue                      $ 419.90

Expenses                     $ 789.88

Closing Balance          $ 755.87

 

7.0   Teacher’s Report –Chris reported that Grade 7 & 8 students attended a Curling Tournament in Terrace Bay.  These students represented the school well.

8.0 Principal’s Report – Dave presented his Report for March 2005 (please see attached).  Some highlights were:

·        Professional Development

·        Report Cards

·        Intramurals

·        After School Numeracy Program

·        School Enrolment

 

9.0 New Business:

9.1 National Research Survey – for further information, please contact Dave.

9.2 Meet with the Trustees – April the 18^th, 2005, the Board of Trustees will be in Manitouwadge to tour the school and meet with the Parent Council members.  High School & Public School Councils invited to attend Luncheon with Board.  Details will be confirmed at a later date.  Dave would like to know ASAP who wishes to attend.  Mary-Ann said she would attend this Luncheon.
